About the School

The School of Language & Literature is one of six Schools in the College of Arts and Social Sciences. It holds approximately fifty academic posts, accompanied by a further fifty part-time and temporary staff (including language assistants), and is supported by ten administrative and secretarial staff.

Departments

The School is home to nine separate units, offering an extensive range of courses and a thriving research community:

Locations

The School is situated at the heart of the King's College campus, Old Aberdeeen.

• School Office: Taylor Building, A Block, room A13 (opening hours are 9.30am - 4.30pm except Tuesdays when it's 10.00am - 4.30pm).
• Head of School, Professor Patrick Crotty: Taylor Building, Block B, room B13 (appointments can be made to see the Head of School by contacting the School Office).
• Lecturers: Most of the School's lecturing staff have offices in Taylor Building, Blocks A, B & C, and in the Old Brewery. Lists of staff, with room numbers, phone numbers and email addresses, can be found on the Noticeboard outside Taylor A05 (near the School Office). The Noticeboard also has academic staff photos to help you connect names to faces.
• Language Centre: Regent Building, on Regent Walk.

Disability Support

Disability support is open to all students at any level of study. It doesn't matter if support has been provided previously for a disabilities-related issue, whether need for support is a new concern, or whether you are just curious about how it works, students can contact the School's disabilities support co-ordinator at any time. The sooner particular needs are identified, the sooner support can be put in place. Students requiring support are enouraged to contact the support co-ordinator at soonest convenience.
