Employability

The University of Aberdeen is committed to helping postgraduate research students develop skills and competencies which build on your research.  Whatever your career intentions, whether it is to continue in research, work in industry or set up your own business, we can help you develop valuable skills to help you stand out from the crowd.  These skills will assist your employability no matter what career path you choose to pursue.

As you draw to the end of your research studies (or possibly sooner), you will need to consider what the next step will be in your career.  This section of the website will provide you with some advice and guidance as you make your next career step.  You should discuss your options with your supervisor, as he/she may be able to provide additional support and contacts.  You can also make an appointment to speak to the careers adviser for postgraduate research students, Dr Hedda Weitz, in the University's Career Service.  Contact the Careers Service’s reception either in person or by phone (27)3601 to book an appointment; alternatively, send an email to car054@abdn.ac.uk for any quick queries.
