Letter dated 13 April 1918. W. L. Christie (Episcopalian Dean of Brechin) was the grandson of William Christie of Monquhitter. An investigation begins into another manuscript, 'containing "Scotch MS. tunes 1730-60". It belonged to 'James Christie Monquhitter'. The manuscript had been sold (at auction?) over Easter, and then been presented to the University.

Is 'James Christie Monquhitter' the same person as 'Jacobus, Agricola, Mountwhitter, who appears on p 354 Vol II Marisch:[al] College Alum:[ni]'?

The writer also has 'a fairly large MS. Volume by William Christie Monquhitter [inserted] (father of Dean Christie [of Moray]) containing settings (musical) for the canticles at morning and evening service'_. [This has never been found.]
