Training
The following health and safety training courses are available in-house:
IOSH Managing Safely
The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Managing Safely course is open to all School and Support Section Safety Advisers, and others who may find it useful.
The course leads to a nationally recognised certificate for those who successfully complete the course. The course will be delivered at the University by the Central Safety team, who are licensed by IOSH.
The course lasts 5 days, split over two weeks (including a written and practical assessment).
The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is Europe's leading professional body for health and safety practitioners. Their very successful Managing Safely course is a very practical course which:
- Establishes an understanding of the causes of accidents and ill health in the workplace;
- Explains the principles involved in the successful management of health and safety;
- Provides a practical understanding of current health and safety legislation;
- Highlights the practical measures and techniques needed to manage health and safety effectively on a day to day basis.
The course is suitable for both newly appointed safety advisers and for those who have been in the role for some time. It would provide a good opportunity to develop an understanding of health and safety management and obtain a nationally recognised health and safety certificate.
There are no scheduled dates at present, but a waiting list is being held.
