History of the group
The Rural Law Group was set up at the beginning of 2009 to formalise existing teaching and research synergies between members of the School. The core members of the group are Donna McKenzie Skene, Aylwin Pillai and Anne-Michelle Slater. All are actively engaged in research in this field and in the LLB Honours Rural Law course, which was introduced in 2003. Dr Aylwin Pillai and Ms Anne-Michelle Slater also coordinate and teach the LLM Programme in Law and Sustainable Development, which commenced in 2005.
The Rural Law Research Group is delighted to announce the arrival of two new colleagues to the School of Law and to the research group in March 2011: Anatole Boute and Malcolm Combe. Anatole specialises in electricity regulation and has a particular interest in the development of renewable energy. He joins the teaching and research team here and will also contribute to the Centre for Energy Law.
The RLRG also benefits from an active research student body and an active staff and student seminar series. Current postgraduate research students an their research interests can be viewed here.
