David has been the headteacher of three large secondary schools in Scotland (Bankhead Academy and Northfield Academy in Aberdeen, and Stranraer Academy in Dumfries and Galloway). Early in his career he was a member of the writing team for the Nuffield A Level Physical Sciences project and more recently was an Education Adviser with the Scottish Office Industry Department. Before joining Aberdeen University to be the coordinator and lecturer for the MBA (Educational Management) course and a tutor and lecturer for the Scottish Qualification for Headship, he was an Assistant Director of Education for Aberdeen City Council. Now working part-time, David is an Honorary Senior Teaching Fellow in Aberdeen Business School and is working with the Rowan Group on a research project examining health education in Aberdeenshire schools.
