Professor Donald Akenson DLitt
Queen's University, Ontario
Donald Harman Akenson received his first degree from Yale College and his doctorate from Harvard University. He is at present Professor of History at Queen's University, Canada, and concurrently is Beamish Research Professor of Migration Studies, in the Institute of Irish Studies at the University of Liverpool. The author of a dozen books on Irish history, he has also published several novels. He has received a Guggenheim Fellowship and both the London and Chalmers prizes for his work on Irish migrants to Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society (Canada) and of the Royal Historical Society (UK).
