Research and Innovation (R&I) is the research development and commercialisation service providing expert guidance to the University’s research community.
The University has a strong track record of working effectively with industry to translate excellence in research into commercial application and knowledge transfer activities. In recent years we have created 16 spin-out companies and have over 400 patent applications.
The R&I team provides expert advice and services for the University’s internal community of researchers, helping them to maximise their research income from the funding opportunities available, and commercialise the output from their research. The team advises on all issues relating to intellectual property and manages all licensing and patent activity.
R&I is also the first point of contact for business, facilitating access to the University's researchers, services, and technologies, and offering a range of consultancy, professional development and commercialisation opportunities arising from research activities.
