Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008)

The University of Aberdeen is among the UK’s top research-led Universities, and performed extremely well in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008).

The headline points are given below. All the rankings are based on the proportion of research activity judged to be ‘world leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’.

  • 89% of Aberdeen’s research activity was assessed as international quality and 55% is ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’
  • Research activity rated as world-leading or internationally excellent was included in all our 33 submissions to the RAE
