About Research and Innovation
Research and Innovation (R&I) is the research development and technology transfer department within the University of Aberdeen.
R&I is the first point of contact for business, facilitating access to the University's researchers, services, and technologies, and offering a range of commercial opportunities arising from our research activities. It welcomes contact from all companies interested in accessing our researchers and facilities, collaborative research programmes, licensing of university technology, or wishing to learn more about short courses and continuing professional development.
R&I also provides help and advice to University of Aberdeen's researchers to maximise their research income from the funding opportunities available and commercialise the output from their research.
The University of Aberdeen is a high quality research institution as evidenced by the last Research Assessment Exercise. The University's strategy is to capitalise on our strengths, invest in key staff and infrastructure to keep us at the forefront of the latest research and technology. The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Marine Biodiscovery Centre, Oceanlab, the Centre for Transport Research and the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) are all examples of the world class facilities supporting research excellence at the University of Aberdeen.
