Law   Hunter Medal in Roman Law   Awarded annually for the best essay on some subject connected with the exposition of Civil and Roman Law. Each essay must bear a motto only, and be accompanied by a sealed envelope bearing the same motto and containing the competitor's name and address and date of attendance on the class of Civil or Roman Law in this University. Law   McGrigor Donald Prize for Second Year Law   The McGrigor McDonald Prize is open to all second year law students. The Prize is awarded to the best second year law student studying for their LLB as their first degree assessed over six second year law subjects (LS 2007 Jurisprudence, LS2008 Property Law, LS2009 Commercial Law, LS2502 Commercial Organisations, LS2503 Family Law, LS2508 Succession and Trusts). Law   Robertson Prize   Awarded annually for the best essay connected with a subject in Scots Law submitted by a person who has attended the classes of Scots Law within the two years immediately before the date on which the essays are to be lodged. Law   Sir Thomas Broun Smith Memorial   The prize is awarded from time to time by the trustee of the Sir Thomas Broun Smith Memorial Trust to the writer of the essay, which is adjudged to be the best submitted in accordance with the rules of the competition. The prize was last awarded in 1995 and the subject of the essay was "the extent to which prior statements of witness and accused persons should be admissible in criminal trials in Scotland ". It is anticipated that the prize will be offered triennially. Those eligible to compete are (i) those who are currently students in the School of Law at the University of Aberdeen and (ii) those who have graduated in Law from the University of Aberdeen since 1 January 1990.   £1,000     754
