Earl of Buchan's Silver Pen |
Presented to Marischal College in 1769 by the eleventh Earl of Buchan. The first prizeman in the Junior Greek Class had his or her name inscribed on a silver medal attached to the pen. The series of medals stopped short in 1838, but in 1901 was completed by Professor Harrower up to 1860, the year of fusion of the Colleges. The Senate authorised the revival of the distinction for the first prizeman of the Ordinary Greek Class, beginning with Session 1900-01. (This prize is not currently being awarded) |

Stuart Prizes |
There are two prizes, which may be awarded annually to the most deserving students attending the second year Hebrew class. The value of the prizes shall be determined by the Board of Studies in Divinity, on the recommendation of the Head of the Discipline of Hebrew and Semitic Languages. Students awarded a Stuart Prize shall be eligible for additional awards from the funds of the prize for the purpose of pursuing the study of some aspect or aspects of the Hebrew Bible at home or abroad. Such additional awards shall be approved by the Board of Studies in Divinity on the recommendation of the Head of School/Discipline of Hebrew and Semitic Languages. |
