Off-campus: postgraduate research students

Permission to study off campus

I want to carry out some of my research away from Aberdeen. What do I need to do?

The first thing you need to do is discuss studying away from Aberdeen (i.e., off-campus) with your supervisor(s), if you have not already done so. If your supervisor(s) support(s) off-campus study, the next thing to do is to submit the formal application. Please print off the Application to study off-campus form from the Registry web site. You should complete it in consultation with your supervisor(s), who will arrange for it to be approved within the School. It will then be sent on to the Registry for approval by a College Postgraduate Officer. If there are legitimate academic reasons for doing research off campus and proper supervision arrangements can be put in place, there should not be any difficulty. Once approval has been given, the Registry will confirm that approval, normally via your University e-mail address.

Registration

If you are a new student beginning in January/February 2007and you will be studying away from Aberdeen you must register. To do this you should complete the online postal registration request form.
