Joining, Registration, Matriculation: On Campus Students

Six Steps for Getting Started

To get started on their studies at the start of each academic year, all on campus students must go through six key steps. Whatever your level or programme of study, you must:

  1. Complete Electronic Registration
  2. Confirm your study aim, and (if appropriate) your choice of individual courses
  3. Submit your registration document
  4. Obtain your ID card
  5. Register for your classes with the teaching departments, and obtain your timetable
  6. Start your studies!

To find out more about each of these steps, please work your way through the rest of these pages. To move forwards, click the appropriate link. To move backwards, or return to these pages from another site, use the BACK button on your browser. Some of the information applies to everybody, but some of it differs according to what type of student your are. To see this specific information, please click the appropriate link from the lists given. If you are not sure what type of student you are, or will be, please go back to the joinings home page and check.

Please help us to help you by reading this information carefully, and acting on it. In particular, please take note of the instructions about payment of tuition fees, and for new students, photographs for ID cards. If we do not have a photograph on record when you turn up to register, and if you have not made arrangements for your fees to be paid, or both, it will take longer to complete your registration.

If you are still unsure about anything, please contact the staff in the Registry for help: e-mail registry@abdn.ac.uk or telephone +44 (0) 1224 273507.
