Procedures on the Day of the In Person Graduation Ceremony

Collect robes and hat from Ede & Ravenscroft in the MacRobert Building Lecture Theatre

Photo orders can be placed at the same time as ordering the robes, using the same website.

Photo studios will close at 16.00 on Friday 6 July 2012.

Should you fail to appear in person, your degree will not be conferred (bestowed upon you) and you will have to re-apply to graduate at a later date either in-absentia or at a future ceremony.

You must be in King’s College Quad, rooms KCG7 or KCG8 an hour and a quarter before the published start time of your ceremony.

You must be there by then so that various checks can be undertaken. Your name will be scored off the list if you are not on time.   Equally, please impress on your guests that admission to the ceremony cannot be allowed after the Academic Procession has begun and that punctuality is essential for them, to avoid disappointment: times are stated on guests’ tickets.  Guests who arrive after the start of the ceremony will not be permitted entry and will be directed to the video-link area in the King’s College Auditorium.

General Council

Having been awarded an undergraduate or postgraduate degree by the University, you are automatically a member of the General Council of the University of Aberdeen (as are certain current and former academic members of staff).

The General Council is empowered "to take into consideration all questions affecting the well-being and prosperity of the University, and to make representations from time to time on such questions to the University Court”, which will consider and respond to such matters raised by the General Council.
