PLEASE NOTE: Resit: (for Honours students only): Candidates achieving a CAS mark of 6-8 may be awarded compensatory level 1 credit. Candidates achieving a CAS mark of less than 6 will be required to submit themselves for re-assessment and should contact the Course Co-ordinator for further details.

Pre-requisite(s): This course is open to all registered level 4 students in any Science programme.
Students will meet once a week for a discussion related to the development of professional skills and employability.
The class will work through various group and individual exercises on topics such as problem solving, communication skills, CV writing, interview skills, report writing, oral presenation skills, and ethical topics in research, science and impact on society.
This includes the analysis of papers from the scientific literature, and presenting summaries and critical analyses of them to an audience and the critical assessment of scientific research proposals.
3 contact hours per week, delivered as tutorials, seminars, oral presentations or discussion groups as detailed in the course guide.
1st Attempt: Continuous assessment: 100% (report writing, oral presentations).
Resit: Resubmission of continuous assessment materials (100%).
Only the marks obtained at the first attempt can be used for Honours classification.
Formative Assessment and Feedback Information
N/A
Feedback to students will be provided through written comments on reports. Feedback on oral presentations will be given during group discussions and peer assessment, and/or individually by the respective lecturer teaching on the course.
