Aims
The programme offers core courses in Climate Change Law and Sustainable Development and Law alongside a range of courses that will enable students consider the implications of both these issues within specific contexts.

Syllabus
Students must complete: Climate Change Law and Policy (1); and Sustainable Development and Law (2)
Students must also complete two further optional courses, a course in research methods and a dissertation. At least one optionsal course must be taken from the list below. The other optional course can be taken from a different LLM Programme. The number in brackets indicates the semester in which the course is taught.

Assessment
Assessment is based on a combination of written examination at the end of the relevant semester and one or more course essays. In addition, students must complete a course in research methods and a dissertation on a topic within the specialism. The dissertation is prepared and written between March and August. Guidance on the writing of a dissertation is given.
Teaching
Teaching is organised on a modular basis. There are two 12-week semesters, the first beginning at the end of September, the second at the end of January. Students can join either in September or January. Examinations are held at the end of each semester, in January and May. The dissertation is submitted at the beginning of September each year, regardless of programme start date. Courses are offered subject to the availability of staff, sufficient enrolment and sabbatical arrangements. Requirements
Normally a 2(i) Honours degree in Law, or another related discipline, or equivalent.
The English Language Requirement for all College of Arts and Social Sciences Masters programmes is an IELTS of 6.5 with 6.0 in the writing and reading (or equivalent TOEFL iBT or PTE). For more information see www.abdn.ac.uk/international/english-requirements
