MFDs/Copiers
The University of Aberdeen has a number of Multi Function Devices (MFDs) across campus. These machines act as both printers & photocopiers. The University currently has a Higher Education contract with RICOH, who is the preferred supplier for the MFDs to the University.
There are two ways of printing on the MFDs:
Pull Printing
A document is sent to a central 'holding' queue and can only be retrieved and printed by swiping your ID card.
Push Printing
Documents are sent directly to the printer & automatically print out.
It is recommended that you use the PULL mode of printing as this is the preferred method, espcecially if it involves confidential documents.
There is a fact sheet provided by DIT explaining the process for printing to MFDs, which can be found by following this link:
Please note that printing should be Auto-Duplex by default.
All staff are encouraged to copy and print to MFDs. You can send your prints to any of the MFDs located across Campus, but make sure you use the PULL method of printing. Locations of MFDs can be found below:
MFD usage is tracked using the Safecom print management software. A guide has been produced by DIT intended for non-finance members of staff who wish to have access to the detailed reports of MFD useage within their Department/Section. This can be found below:
If you wish to discuss replacing an existing MFD or have a requirement for a new one, please contact the DIT Service Desk on (27) 3636, by email at servicedesk@abdn.ac.uk
