Court Guidelines

These Guidelines, which are available here as a word document, have been produced to provide you with much of the basic information that you will need to understand your role as a member of the Court.

Section 1 provides some introductory information about the University and higher education in general.

Section 2 explains the role, membership and operation of the Court and your responsibilities as Court members. It also sets out some of the basic principles of corporate governance and how they are applied at the University.

Section 3 describes and explains the financial and audit requirements of the University, with particular reference to the need to account for public money received from the Scottish Funding Council (SFC).

These Guidelines are merely a starting point for your induction as a Court member. They will be supplemented by further induction and guidance from the University Secretary who will be pleased to provide any further information that you may require at any stage.
