Remit

To develop policy and guidance on research governance and ethical issues.

To have oversight of all research-related ethical issues within the University and to ensure that appropriate structures are in place to encourage best practice.

To maintain an interaction with the Ethical Committee of the NHS Grampian Research Ethics Committee [now the NHS North of Scotland Research Ethics Service]

Composition

The Committee for Research Ethics and Governance is a joint committee of the Court and Senate, composed of a Vice-Principal (Convener); a lay member of the Court; one representative nominated by each College; the Director of Research of each College; up to 3 co-opted members; and one postgraduate student (nominated by the Students' Association).
