Remit

The Rocking Horse Nursery is an independent Nursery registered with the Social Work Department of Aberdeen City Council. It has been set up under the terms of a Trust to provide nursery facilities for the students and staff of the University of Aberdeen. The Nursery can accommodate 47 children at any one time.

The Rocking Horse Nursery provides a secure and happy environment where trained staff provide a programme of planned activities for children to enjoy, which are designed to enable them to develop a wide range of skills and abilities. Children are encouraged to express their individuality and creativity within the discipline of a group setting.

Composition

The Rocking Horse Nursery Board of Trustees is composed of a Chairman, two full Trustees and (ex officio) the President of the Students' Association and the Director of Student Support. Meetings of the Board are normally also attended by the Manager, Rocking Horse Nursery, and a representative from each of Parents Plus (a group representing the parents of children in the Nursery), Estates and Finance.  The University's Policy, Planning & Governance section provides administrative support to the Board.
