Embedded Sensing and Imaging Research Group (ESIRG)
[Formerly the Parallel and Image Processing Research Group (PIPRG)]
We are researching computational implementations which will facilitate the embedding of imaging, sensing, and other computational intelligence into very small, portable devices. We are developing various aspects of wireless sensor networks, for example security and energy efficiency. Work on imaging includes digital watermarking and image quality measurement.
The group uses and develops a number of computational tools and techniques, including Matlab, Java, Python, Field Programmable Gate Arrays, Artificial Neural Networks, parallel and distributed computing, formal methods including Z and Communicating Sequential Processes.
