Before coming to Aberdeen, I studied at University College Dublin, the University of St. Andrews, and the University of Sheffield. My PhD thesis focused on the work of W.V. Quine in the philosophy of language.
My main research interests are in the philosophy of language. Currently, I am working on a series of papers on the semantics of belief reports. I am also a member of the Self and Self-knowledge research group at the Northern Institute of Philosophy.

Philosophy of Language (especially theories of reference and the semantics of belief reports)
Metaphysics (especially personal identity and persistence through time)

I am currently working on a series of papers intended to (but which might not) defend an account of the semantics of belief reports which endorses: (i) Millianism about names; (ii) Russellianism about propositions; (iii) a pragmatic account of failure of substitution in belief contexts which is (hopefully) different from other such accounts in the literature.
