I received my PhD for A defense of the Kaplanian theory of sentence-truth in 2010 from the University of St Andrews. I had already taken a position at NIP in 2009 so that last year was tough!
My post at NIP is 50% research and 50% academic administration - a combination I love as I work best when I have too much to do and am under pressure. Helping to run NIP ensures that there is always too much to do.
I have mainly worked on Philosophy of Language and in particular on issues concerning relativism and contextualism. I suppose this work will continue as NIP has recently received a £250000 Leverhulme award for a project on Relativism and Rational Tolerance, of which I am a co-investigator. Also I have recently become interested in Testimony and intend to work on that in the near future.
I am a board member of the FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network, PETAF, the first research and training network exclusively in philosophy to be financed by the European Commission.
When I am not working I enjoy cooking, traveling and reading. I am trying to learn Italian and, one day, would love to have the time to learn to play the guitar.
