I visited NIP for ten days and presented a paper at the A Priori Conference. The presentation to the conference and the presentation to the NIP Seminar were stimulating and rewarding: great questions and comments. The intellectual and social environments at NIP are terrific. I enjoyed and profited greatly from my time there, and look forward to returning again.

My visit to NIP was both extremely fun and productive. It was great to be part of such a lively group of philosophers, whether hiking on Skye, playing Mafia, or puzzling over difficult problems together in the seminar room. I particularly liked how they maintained a collaborative and supportive atmosphere without sacrificing deep understanding. I got excellent feedback on my work and I learned a lot about everyone else's - thanks!

I was visiting for the purpose of addressing the weekly NIP seminar. I gathered that these were not held in a regular location but in rooms decided centrally and varying from week to week, making it impossible in advance to know what facilities (whiteboards etc.) were available ahead of time -- an unfortunate circumstance. However, the seminar was well attended and the discussion was good, so I was happy with the occasion. I also enjoyed what I saw of the campus.

This was my first visit at NIP, and hopefully not the last one: the feedback I got during the discussion at the seminar and informally afterwards was really excellent, and I am still thinking about some of the issues raised, plus the atmosphere was at the same time friendly, constructive without avoiding very serious criticism. I really look forward to my next visit!!

I gave three epistemology talks at NIP in November 2011. Received great feedback on all the talks leading to many and varied improvements. The research environment is first-rate: intense, productive, diverse, and very stimulating. Loads of philosophers showed up to all three talks. The people are all friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit. And Aberdeen is actually a great city.
