The University's Philosophy Society is a small society of students dedicated to meeting regularly to discuss a wide range of philosophical concerns, in the forms of lectures, readings, discussion forums, socials and films. Examples of previous events include discussions on “why should logic be persuasive?”, “how do we relate to characters in fiction?” talks by departmental lecturers on “time symmetry and probability” and “the analogy between abortion and the throwaway culture”, plus many, many more. We welcome all students, and have a diverse mix of members from all disciplines; perhaps suggesting how relevant and universal philosophical enquiry truly is.
