Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Eye Unit consists of 8 consultants as follows:
Staff Member Specialism Mr Hattam Atta Ultrasound, Vitreo-retinal surgery, Medical Retina Mr Augusto Azuarro-Blanco Glaucoma, Cornea Mr William Church Paediatrics, Ophthalmic genetics, Cornea Professor John Forrester Vitreo-retinal surgery, Medical Ophthalmology, Ocular Inflammation, Diabetic Retinopathy Mr Frank Green Glaucoma, Oculoplastics Miss Noemi Lois Medical Retina, Vitreo-retinal surgery Dr John Olson Ocular inflammation, Diabetic retinopathy, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Medical Retina, Medical Ophthalmology Mr Chris Scott Paediatrics, Adult Motility The use of digitised image analysis and optometrists to screen for diabetic retinopathy: The aim of this study is to establish the best technique to screen for Diabetic retinopathy. The application of conventional and high frequency ultrasound in ophthalmological diagnosis: Mr Atta is investigating the full potential of ultrasound to aid in ophthalmological diagnosis
Finding the cause of anterior uveitis: To investigate the aetiology of immunogenesis of anterior uveitis. Researchers are Christjan Dees and Andrew Dick
Use of novel immunosupressants to treat ocular inflammatory disease: The unit is studying the effectiveness of new immunosupressant agents in uveitis. Treatments include monoclonal antibody therapy. Researchers are John Olson, Andrew Dick & Professor Forrester.
