Biography
I have graduated from Ain-shams University in Cairo and was awarded the MB B Ch degree with Honours. I have completed my postgraduate training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in North east of England & West of Scotland and have been awarded the "Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training" (CCST) by the Royal college of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. (RCOG). I have also successfully completed a Subspecialty Training Program in Urogynaecology & Pelvic Floor Reconstruction in Glasgow and have been accredited as a "Subspecialist Urogynaecologist".
I have developed an interest in both clinical & academic Urogynaecology. I have designed a program of evaluate research in urogynaecology with emphasis on health services research. The main thrust of these discrete but interlinked projects has been evaluation of transobturator tension free vaginal tapes in treatment of female urodynamic stress and the evaluation of various mesh repair devices in management of female pelvic organ prolapse. The success of the above program proved instrumental in gaining RCOG recognition of my previous unit as a Sub-specialty Training Centre in Urogynaecology.
I am the founder and currently the elected secretary of the Scottish Pelvic Network; a "multi-disciplinary group" which includes urogynaecologists, urologists, Colorectal, physiotherapists, continence specialist nurses and administrative staff. The group reviews implementation of evidence based guidelines and protocols. It also discusses management of difficult cases and the status of the urogynaecology research program, which I currently lead.
I am a Peer Reviewer in a number of reputable medical journals: "BJOG" (RCOG Official Journal)/ "The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Journal" (RCOG Official Journal)/ "Neurology and Urodynamics" (the ICS- International Continence Society Official Journal)/ "International Journal Of Surgery" and "International Urogynaecology Journal". I have been invited to a deliver many lecture sin Urogynaecology worldwide.

Research Interests
As a clinical researcher, my primary objective is to investigate ways of facilitating the delivery of effective and safe treatment for urinary incontinence & pelvic organ prolapse in women. This involves a programme of interlinked projects including randomised controlled trials, epidemiological studies, as well as retrospective and prospective observational studies.
In my current post I have established an ongoing programme of evaluative research in urogynaecology.
Clinical Interests: As a subspecialist urogynaecologist my workload includes assessment and management of primary and complicated cases of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
