MacGillivray Centre
The MacGillivray Academic Centre, which was opened on Tuesday, November 16, 1999, is named after Professor Emeritus Ian MacGillivray, former Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Professor MacGillivray made major clinical and scientific contributions to our understanding of pregnancy hypertension and also twin pregnancy, as well as developing undergraduate and postgraduate education in Aberdeen.
The facility, based within Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, consists of a Conference Room, two Seminar Rooms, two Tutorial Rooms and a Computer Room. It was developed as a joint enterprise between the University of Aberdeen, School of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Grampian University Hospital NHS Trust, with generous contributions from a number of other sources, including the Special Nursery trust.
The facility provides future doctors and midwives, as well as current staff, with the best and most up-to-date support for their continuing education.
