What Our Students Think
The MSc in Nursing offered by CASN offers a great deal of flexibility which has allowed me to undertake the course whilst also working full time.
The support and encouragement provided by the CASN staff is second to none and proved to be invaluable.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in further study and developing their career.
Joanne Grant, Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, NHS Grampian.
The Masters in nursing course in Aberdeen University gave me a different perspective about nursing profession. It helped me think differently and express my views on various health and professional aspects openly. it helped me critically think about issues, question whenever necessary and follow evidence based practice.
The support of my professors was really unforgettable. It is their valuable advice and guidance that helped me complete the course successfully. I will always treasure their valuable support throughout my life.
The multicultural classroom environment was really friendly. There was a mixture of experiences in different fields and it was interesting to share different viewpoints on main health and professional issues.
Even though, we had problems during our research the friendly atmosphere helped us overcome the difficulties. On the whole, the course was just superb!!!
Agnes Shanila Faria, (Nurse from India)
The MSc Nursing programme I completed from University of Aberdeen is a worthwhile course. The course widened my knowledge horizon on various aspects needed to work as an excellent nurse. The modules helped to achieve more information on several areas that a nurse must be aware of during the professional practice. The course will help the new nurses to meet the requirements of advanced roles like research and teaching. Apart from that, the multicultural student group is a fantastic experience.
The other most important part which I need to praise is the help and support from all the staff members of the department. I am always thankful and grateful for all the support I received from my professors throughout the course.
Lexy Maria Alappattu, (Nurse from India)
Working towards an MSc has given me the opportunity to consider other areas of nursing, and this new post allows me to explore research, to consolidate some of the theory gained through the course.
If I was to summarise the course, I would say that "it is mentally challenging, but the support of the tutors who encourage you to think about your practice, makes it all immensely rewarding".

"It's brilliant. Never have I felt so supported throughout my entire course as I have with the University. Each individual is counted for and taken into consideration with the diversity of nursing disciplines, even for those who have not yet found a particular field of practice. With excellent modules which cater for everyone within the health care professions and helpful, friendly staff, the University of Aberdeen will help you find what you're looking for."

"Doing my MSc in Midwifery at the University of Aberdeen was an excellent opportunity to meet other practicing nurses and midvies from all over the world. Having a class with such a wide variation of perspectives and experiences generated really interesting debates in class, especially around ethical practice! Having such supportive peers kept me motivated and inspired to progress through the programme. Whilst doing my dissertation by research, I was bitten by the 'research bug' and am now completing my PhD!"

"The flexibility of the MSc course, including lectures, seminars and guided reading has allowed me the opportunity to study part time, whilst working full time and coping with a busy family life.
I have also been fortunate enough to have had the chance to network with, and study alongside colleagues from both home and abroad, and have been able to share and explore a wide range of ideas as well as make comparisons with healthcare in places such as France and Japan.
The course is run and delivered by highly experienced and dedicated staff offering the chance for the student to gain a superb quality of learning, in a way that suits the individual."

"The postgraduate studies at the University of Aberdeen has prepared me to view nursing beyond the traditional healthcare. This course has also helped me to redefine evidence based healthcare system, question it and integrate it in a far-reaching ethical and moral value system.
As a full time student with limited clinical experience this program took me to the limits of my time management skills, endurance, perseverance and productivity successfully. I have also enjoyed mountain-biking everyday from the Victoria Docks to Foresterhill in ever-changing Aberdeen weather."

"I can't forget my days in Aberdeen. It was a wonderful year, beautiful city, kind people, colorful curriculum, everything makes me happy. Although there are some problems for me, such as living alone, poor English language, and no working experience, I got much support from teachers and classmates. And I believe that through the hard work, everyone could gain what they want. During the one year, I feel I grew up rapidly. It is worthy and meaningful experience for me."
Yuyang (Karen) Li, (Chinese Nurse)
"My MSc gave me the opportunity to help my country in the improvement of health. Now I work in the Ministry of Health in the National Nursing and Midwifery Task Force as a professional officer in charge of midwifery education and midwives' promotion in practice.
