- Due in a forthcoming issue of Electoral Studies is Anders Widfeldt’s report on the Swedish parliamentary election of 2006.
- On 2 May, Anders Widfeldt participated in a panel debate on anti-democratic movements, at the City Museum in Göteborg, Sweden.
- Anders Widfeldt’s analysis of the members of the Swedish Green Party, in the volume “Green Party Members in Europe”, edited by Wolfgang Rüdig, is due to be published in late 2007.
- The entry on Sweden in the series “Elections in Europe”, compiled by Anders Widfeldt, will be published by Oxford University Press before the end of 2007.
- David Arter has gained full ESRC funding for a project entitled ‘Viewing Campaigns from the Candidate’s Perspective: The 2007 Finnish General Election’ The start date is July 1 2007 and the research forms part of an international Comparative Candidate Survey co-ordinated by the Centre for European Social Research at the University of Mannheim
- David J. Galbreath’s book, The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, was published in May 2007 by Routledge.
- David Arter has been invited to deliver a lecture course on ‘Parties and Party System Change in Scandinavia’ at the University of Tampere (Finland) during November-December 2007. Whilst there, he will discuss future research co-operation with Professors Heikki Paloheimo and Tapio Raunio
- Due out in the next issue of West European Politics (vol 30, no.4, 2007) is David Arter’s report on the March 2007 Finnish general election entitled “The End of Social Democratic Hegemony and the ‘Normalisation’ of Centre-Right Government?”
- David J. Galbreath has been invited to deliver a lecture on the ‘Changing Geopolitics of the Baltic Sea Region’ at the University of Tallinn (Estonia) in August 2007.
- Due out in autumn 2007 is David Arter’s edited book ‘Comparing and Classifying Legislatures’ (Routledge). The collection is based on a special double issue of The Journal of Legislative Studies (vol 12, 3/4 2006) which in turn had its origins in a European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) workshop organised and led by Prof Arter in Granada (Spain) in April 2005. He has written an Introductory chapter ‘Comparing the Legislative Performance of Legislators’ and the Conclusion “Questioning the ‘Mezey Question’: An Interrogatory Framework for the Comparative Study of Legislatures”
- Due out in time for second semester (January-February 2008) teaching is a completely revised second edition of David Arter’s standard textbook Scandinavian Politics Today (Manchester University Press)
- David J. Galbreath has two forthcoming books in 2008, entitled Continuity

Lasas and Jeremy W. Lamoreaux, Rodopi publishers) and Democratization: a
Critical Introduction, 2nd edition (with Jean Grugel, Palgrave).
