The University of Aberdeen has many excellent student facilities within its broad campus, from its all-important lecture theatres, classrooms, and laboratories, to its friendly social spaces and eateries. However getting used to a new campus can be somewhat confusing especially if you have classes spread over both King's College and Foresterhill campuses.
To help you to find your way around our picturesque campus, simply remember:
Campus Services provides a range of venues that you can choose from that sell healthy and nutritious snacks and meals.
The Hub is the No.1 eating venue for students to meet and eat.
Our Tiki cafes, located in the IMS building and MacRobert Buidling offer a wide selection of hot and cold snacks, hot drinks and other refreshments. If you need to get online during a coffee break, try our Tiki internet café in the Hub. We also have Tiki on the go so you can pick up a tea or coffee en route, located at the Taylor Building and the University Library.
Cafe Zeste is a great place for students to meet for snacks and light lunches as well as offering a choice of 3 course meals for the more substantial appetite.
Bishops' Table is the private dining restaurant on Campus and offers a selection of delicious, healthy cuisine at a reasonable price - a mixed menu to tantalise the tastebuds for any special occasion or just because you fancy something different.
Every Wednesday between 12 and 2pm come along to fair-trade cafe in the Butchart Building to get delicious homemade soup made from fresh, local, organic produce or a cheese toastie.
ShopHub, located in the Hub, sells stationary, University clothing and gifts, papers, food and much more! There are also numerous shops dotted around campus including a book and stationery shop as well as a shop to pick up food basics.
The Sir Duncan Rice Library, which opened its doors for the first time in September 2011, will be offering tours and information skills sessions to help you to kick start your studies. Your School may have scheduled formal tours and workshops with the Library but, if they have not, why not come along to one of the short tours available in the early part of the term. Sign up to follow our blog InfoLinks, Facebook group or Twitter for details of tours and free information skills workshops as they become available.
Tours are designed for new students and will take a minimum of 30 minutes - no booking needed. They cover:
Medical Library and Taylor Law Library & European Documentation Centre
Many courses include formal tours of our specialist medical and law libraries. Times and dates will be supplied by your School. Both libraries have Enquiry/Help Desks so please ask for guidance on using these libraries and their collections whenever you need it.
