Campus Life

Getting to know your campus

The University of Aberdeen has many excellent student facilities within its broad campus, from its all-important lecture theatres, classrooms, and laboratories, to its friendly social spaces and eateries. However getting used to a new campus can be somewhat confusing especially if you have classes spread over both King's College and Foresterhill campuses.

To help you to find your way around our picturesque campus, simply remember:

  • Campus tour: The Students' Association will be running campus tours daily between Monday 30th January and Wednesday 2nd February. Please check the Events Guide which will be available in our Handy Downloads from January for further details.
  • Local area tour: Designed to show you all of the local services and amenities to help you settle in to your new life in Old Aberdeen quickly and easily. Running on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd February at 12pm - book your place by emailing newstudents@abdn.ac.uk
  • Shops: ShopHub, located in the Hub, sells stationary, University clothing and gifts, papers, food and much more! There are also numerous shops dotted around campus including a book and stationery shop as well as a shop to pick up food basics.
  • Maps: We have online campus maps of King's College Campus and Foresterhill, and a virtual tour of the University.
  • Help: If you do get lost, just ask! During the first week of the new semester we will have many student ambassadors and volunteers walking around campus who will be happy to point you in the right direction, and you can always make your way to the Infohub in the Hub for more detailed information and/or advice.

Food for Thought

Campus Services provides a range of venues that you can choose from that sell healthy and nutritious snacks and meals.

The Hub is the No.1 eating venue for students to meet and eat.

Our Tiki Cafes, located in IMS and MacRobert offer a wide selection of hot and cold snacks, hot drinks and other refreshments. Or if you need to get online during a coffee break, why not visit our Tiki internet Café in the HUB. We also have Tiki on the Go so you can pick up a tea or coffee en route, located at Taylor or the University Library.

Cafe Zeste is a great place for students to meet for snacks and light lunches as well as offering a choice of 3 course meals for the more substantial appetite.

Bishops' Table is the private dining restaurant on Campus and offers a selection of delicious, healthy cuisine at a reasonable price - a mixed menu to tantalise the tastebuds for any special occasion or just because you fancy something different...

Every Wednesday between 12 and 2pm come along to fair-trade cafe in the Butchart Building to get delicious homemade soup made from fresh, local, organic produce and a yummy cheese toastie for only £1.50.
