Arriving by Car

For students arriving by car, an online route planner is available to help you find directions to University residences. You may also wish to check out the Transport direct website which offers a detailed door-to-door route planner, even including walking routes directly to your new accommodation!

If you're driving to Aberdeen, the following information will be useful for sat-navs and route finders:

  • University postcode - AB24 3FX
  • Hillhead postcode - AB24 1WU

Please note that car parking is very limited and as such, you will be unable to park on the King's Campus during working hours between Monday and Friday. During these hours, you will be allowed to drop items at the Halls of Residence but will have to park off-campus. There is no desginated resident parking on campus at Crombie Johnston, Elphinstone Road Flats, or King's Hall. There is limited resident parking at Hillhead Halls of Residence. Arriving by Air

Aberdeen airport is very easy to navigate and airport staff will be on hand to help if you have any problems. More information can be found on the Aberdeen Airport website.

The airport is located at Dyce, about 7 miles from the centre of Aberdeen. There's a taxi rank at the airport, and a fare from the airport to the University or Halls of Residence will cost approximately £25 to £35, depending upon where you are staying.

Alternatively you can take the Jet bus service. The 727 service to Aberdeen Bus Station runs regularly, and travel time is around 35 minutes. A single fare costs £2.70. Arriving by Bus/Coach/Train

Fast coach services link Aberdeen with the UK's major cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. Competitive return fares, using Student Travelcard schemes, make coach travel popular with students. In general, the earlier you book your travel the cheaper the price will be. The Aberdeen Bus/Coach Station and Train Station are linked together by Union Square Shopping Centre on Guild Street, in the centre of town. The taxi rank is situated within the Train Station. Taxi fares cost approximately £15 to King's Collge Campus and £25 to Hillhead Halls of Residence. If you would prefer to take a bus rather than a taxi then please see below:

  • To University Campus, Crombie-Johnston, King's Hall & Elphinstone Halls

From the bus station, take the Stagecoach Bluebird bus number 9U (Monday - Saturday only) or numbers 60, 61, 63, 67 or 68 to the University Road stop, journey time approximately 7 minutes. Walk onto Regent Walk to get to the centre of campus. Alternatively, you could walk to Union Street or Broad Street from the station, journey time approximately 8 minutes. Catch First Bus number 20 direct to the Halls. Note that First Bus operate an exact-change policy.   • To Unite apartments Firestation, Spring Garden & Mealmarket Street

From the bus station, take the Stagecoach Bluebird bus number 9U (Monday - Saturday only) or numbers 60, 61, 63, 67 or 68 to Mealmarket Street or the Jasmine Terrace stop for Firestation & Spring Garden. Please note that Spring Garden is a 6-minute walk from the Jasmine Terrace stop.   • To Hillhead Halls & Unite New Carnegie Court

From the bus station, take the Stagecoach Bluebird bus number 9U (Monday - Saturday only) direct to Hillhead Halls, journey time approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you could walk to Union Street or Broad Street, journey time approximately 8 minutes. Catch First Bus number 20 direct to the Halls. Note that First Bus operate an exact-change policy.
