children's activity area

The new building will allow us to extend the benefits of a superb library and cultural centre beyond the University population to the local community, business sector and all who live and work in this area of Scotland. It will also bring recognition for Aberdeen and north-east  Scotland, as being home to unique treasures of great historical significance, attracting students, historians, researchers and others from across the world.

We want to:

  • explore new opportunities to contribute to the life of the local community through outreach programmes with community groups, schools and the general public
  • work in partnership with other institutions and organisations local and national to increase the range of activity and audiences, and develop mutually beneficial partnerships with enterprise, private and public  organisations
  • develop a annual programme of events to include readings, exhibitions of the special collections, art events, musical recitals and more
  • widen access through virtual channels, with an online catalogue and digitisation programme for selected materials.
