Computing is not just about programming and learning more about applications such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Today, the challenge for Computing Professionals and Scientists is to use the technical analysis, design and programming skills that they learn at University to create better and more intelligent tools, which may be used in intelligent clothing; to help doctors treat a newborn baby; manage the huge volume of data from the human genome; track jet engines in flight and ensure that the correct maintenance is done; and make it easier to buy what you want over the internet. Computing is one of the most exciting, innovative and creative subjects you can study. Our degrees are geared towards employability and are recognised by the British Computer Society for professional membership. You will gain a good mix of theory and practical skills. You will learn about exciting topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Mobile Computing, and we have an excellent staff-student ratio. Our degrees give you choice and breadth. You do not need to decide on a particular Computing degree. Once you are admitted to one of our degrees, you can easily move between them. Careful selection of your electives allows you to keep your options open.
