Biography
Richard Turbet took early retirement in March 2009 from Aberdeen University Library where latterly he was Special Collections Cataloguer and subject specialist for Music. A native of Essex, he has degrees from University College London and the University of Aberdeen. He has written or edited over a hundred published books and articles about Byrd, Tudor music, music librarianship and musical bibliography, and has edited for publication music by Byrd and William Inglott. He is a contributor to Grove and to ODNB. His research and information guide to Tudor music was awarded the C.B. Oldman Prize for the best British work of music bibliography, librarianship or reference published in 1994. For fifteen years he was a cathedral layclerk. He lives in Norfolk.
