New project to study scientific instruments collection

A £40,000 grant from the Museum Recognition Fund will enable a review and improved documentation of the scientiifc instruments collection.

This project will significantly improve the documentation and storage of the University’s collection of over 3000 scientific instruments, inventorying and cataloguing the existing collection and a further estimated 700 items that are currently inaccessible due to poor storage. A priority is building collaboration with museums and academics in Aberdeen and elsewhere, with an inaugural seminar and expert visits culminating in a workshop/partnership event for other museums and experts to share knowledge and experiences.
