Study Dentistry (BDS)

The new Dental School is based on the Foresterhill site alongside the University of Aberdeen’s School of Medicine.  It is a new-build, state of the art facility that will allow the training of 15-20 dental students and also dental care professionals.  The dental students will be graduates, initially of the biomedical sciences but hopefully graduates from oral health sciences, nursing and other science-related subjects will be considered in due course.

The Dental School is the latest addition to the rapidly expanding dental service in Aberdeen and Grampian. It is based at the Foresterhill Site and had its first intake of students in September 2008.

The new University of Aberdeen Dental School offers the first graduate entry, four year BDS programme in Scotland.

The course has been designed specifically for graduates and encompasses a variety of modern educational methods for teaching and learning. There is a focus more on independent and reflective learning, and clinical work is introduced from first year to maximise clinical experience.
