Consultant Job Plan Exercise 2013

As per previous years, there are 3 forms which require to be completed and signed as appropriate:

·         Clinical Academic Consultant Model Job Plan Form
·         Pay Progression Form and Guidelines
·         Private Practice Form 

Process to be followed:

  1. Consultant to complete paperwork as appropriate and sign.
  2. Discuss, agree and have signed off by NHS Line Manager/Head of Service.
  3. Pass to relevant Head of Division for sign-off on behalf of the University.  If you feel you need to discuss your proposed Job Plan with your Head of Division as a result of significant changes, or if you have any concerns, please feel free to set up a meeting.
  4. Once signed by both NHS and University representatives, pass to Mel Barclay, PA to Head of School, for onward transmission to University and NHS HR.


I would be grateful if you could undertake to have your paperwork finalised and signed off by 31 March 2013.  As per last year, in order to avoid inappropriate overpayments to staff, any Academic Consultants who have not completed the process by 31 March 2013 will revert to basic salary (ie 11 PAs) and will only receive additional payments for on-call, etc, on receipt of completed job plan paperwork.  It is not anticipated that this will cause you any problems, but should you experience difficulties in getting the necessary signatures, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will endeavour to assist where possible.
