Aberdeen Health Psychology Group
The Aberdeen Health Psychology Group, established in 2003, brings together researchers working in the field of health psychology. The senior professorial team includes Professor Derek Johnston (Emeritus) and Professor Marie Johnston. Group membership is open to staff, collaborators and postgraduate students who work with these two senior staff. We also have a large number of Associate members, including collaborators and alumni of the group who work in health-related behavioural research across the UK and abroad.

The group is involved in the Scottish, British and European health psychology organisations. The scientific structure of the group's research covers three content domains underpinned by methods from health psychology, with over-arching theories about behaviour, emotion and cognition:
- Development and application of theories from health psychology
- Development and use of methods from health psychology
- Development and evaluation of behaviour change interventions (including early-phase research)
- Behaviour in trials
- Behavioural approaches to translational research
