Public Health Nutrition Research Group

The Public Health Nutrition Research Group was formed in 2009 following the merger of the former Rowett Research Institute (now Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health) with the University of Aberdeen College of Life Sciences and Medicine in 2008. There are currently 17 members of staff and 8 PhD students in the group.

  • Obesity and energy balance in children, young people and adults
  • Diet and chronic disease
  • Diet of infants and young children
  • Sustainable food supply
  • Food and nutrition policy
  • Undernutrition in Africa and Asia

  • Nutrition epidemiology
  • Dietary assessment and surveillance
  • Assessment of physical activity, energy expenditure and body composition
  • Qualitative research methods applied to nutrition-related issues
  • Development and evaluation of community-based nutrition interventions
  • Systematic reviews of nutrition interventions
