The University of Aberdeen is set to host its fourth annual Open Day on August
26. One of the most important events in the University calendar, the Open Day
allows prospective students to get a flavour of the 630 degree courses on offer,
student life and the city of Aberdeen itself. Last year's event attracted over
4,000 prospective students, parents and teachers from throughout Europe with
extremely positive feedback.
The University of Aberdeen's Open Day is unique in that it offers a combination of innovative initiatives for visitors to take part in, as well as mini-lectures, live music, demonstrations and tours of departments. One of the most popular attractions at last year's event, set to be repeated this year, was a 'Diary Room' where visitors could give feedback on camera to an anonymous, all-seeing Big Brother. Clarissa Dickson-Wright, University Rector and star of television programmes Two Fat Ladies and Clarissa and The Countryman will be giving a demonstration of cooking on a student budget at the event in August.
A number of sponsorship packages are available for any organisation interested in being part of this event. Deputy Director of Marketing, Clare Gadie commented: "The Open Day represents one of the most important events in the University year and attracts thousands of people to the city. Last year's event was a huge success and we are aiming to make this year even better by attracting commercial partners who will help us to extend the range of activities and initiatives available. For any organisation wanting to get involved, there are a variety of packages which can be tailored to suit individual requirements."
