Aberdeen expert to advise government on farm animal welfare

An Aberdeen authority in animal science and husbandry, Professor Peter English, has been invited to serve on the Farm Animal Welfare Council for a further three years.
Professor English, of the University of Aberdeen’s Department of Agriculture and Forestry, has served on the Council, which advises the UK government on farm animal welfare matters, for the past three years.
He is a past winner of the British Society of Animal Science/Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Research Award for his work in enhancing farm animal welfare.
He is also well-known for his research and development initiatives in pioneering improved educational and training materials and approaches to enhance the process of continuing professional development for personnel in the livestock industries.
