The Health Sciences Building on the University's Foresterhill site opened in August 2006 and was partly funded by SRIF, the University of Aberdeen and the Wolfson Foundation. On the ground floor it houses the purpose built Clinical Research Facility which aims to provide a high quality clinical environment in which participants can take part in research programmes safely according to robust, ethically approved study protocols. The CRF currently has thirty two concurrent research studies taking place, both academic and commissioned, and employs eighteen members of staff. The remaining three floors of the Health Sciences Building are home to Investigators from the Institute of Applied Health Sciences who pursue an agenda of excellence in health services research and includes the Health Services Research Unit, Academic Urology Unit, IMMPACT, Human Nutrition Group, Sports Physiology and the Osteoporosis Research Unit.
