Installing Live Meeting client on Campus PCs
**Please do not attempt to install Live Meeting on your work PC yourself**
Please contact the Service Desk - servicedesk@abdn.ac.uk - to request installation of Microsoft Live Meeting client. Installation will either be carried out remotely, or we will come to you to carry out installation.
Note: To take full advantage of Live Meeting, we recommend you also request installation of Outlook's Conferencing Add-in.
Headsets, web cams and speakerphones
To benefit fully from all the features of Live Meeting, you will need to use a webcam, headset, or speakerphone.
We do not supply or procure headsets, webcams, or speakerphones. For advice on choosing and installing these devices, see our Headsets, webcams and speakerphones page.
Installing Live Meeting client on Home PCs
You can download and install the Live Meeting client on your home PC/laptop from the Software Download Service (restricted access - University login required). All you need is an internet connection. Please ensure you read the licence details before installing. Full installation details are available below.
To take full advantage of Live Meeting, we recommend you also install Outlook's Conferencing Add-in.
Note: You will require admin rights to your PC/laptop - if you use a University owned laptop at home and you don't have admin rights, contact the Service Desk for assistance.

Download
- The file necessary to install Microsoft Office Live Meeting can be found in the UoA Software Download Service. Follow the link: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/local/download/filemgr.php?Submit=OpenFolder&Object=/Microsoft/Other
- Enter your username and password when prompted.
- Under the column Action, click on Open Folder to the left of Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 client.
- Read through the conditions of the Microsoft Campus Agreement License (Office Suite). Click I acknowledge that I have read the Installation and Usage Conditions as summarised above to continue.
- To check system requirements click the red link Please Read.
- Under Action click Download to begin the download process for LMSetup.exe.
- When asked, Do you want to run or save this file? Click Save.
- In the Save As window, expand Browse Folders, located in the lower left-hand corner.
- Save LMSetup.exe in Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Microsoft Office.
- This completes the download process.
Installation
- Open the folder Microsoft Office in Program Files (Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Microsoft Office) when the download is complete, and double click on LMSetup.exe to begin installation.
- The software will install automatically.
- Wait while Setup completes the installation process.
- Click Close when the installation is complete.
- This completes the installation process.
Now that you have installed the Microsoft Office Live Meeting client, we recommend you install:
User Settings
- When connecting to Live Meeting from a non-domain PC, you need to make sure your connection settings are correct.
- Launch Live Meeting and from the menu button, select Open User Accounts.
- In the User Accounts window, make sure your University e-mail address is entered beside Sign-in name:
- Click on Advanced...
- In the Advanced Connection Settings window, check the box beside Use the following user name and password.
- In the User name: field, enter your University user ID in the format uoa\abc123 where abc123 is your user ID.
- Enter your password in the Password: field.
- Click OK.
- You can now connect to meetings from your non-domain PC.

Installing Live Meeting client - guidance for external participants
If you are an external participant, you may still participate in a Live Meeting organised by the University of Aberdeen.
You will need:
- a Windows PC/laptop with an internet connection
- a web cam, a microphone and speakers - these can be built-in or external
- optionally, some people use a headset or speakerphone
- the Live Meeting client installed on your PC/laptop
- If you do not already have Live Meeting client installed on your PC/laptop, follow the simple installation guidelines below. Once the Live Meeting client is installed on your PC/laptop, you can attend subsequent meetings without additional installations.
How to install the Live Meeting client
When you are invited to take part in a Live Meeting, you will receive an e-mail invite or meeting request from the meeting Organiser. This communication will include a link that allows you to download and install the Live Meeting client on your PC/laptop.
- Open the invitation or meeting request and click on the link I am connecting from outside the University of Aberdeen network.
- This will launch Microsoft's Download the Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 client web page.
- Click on the link Download Live Meeting 2007 at the foot of the web page.
- At the prompt, click on Save.
- Save LMSetup.exe in Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Microsoft Office.
- Once the download is complete, open the folder Microsoft Office in Program Files (Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Microsoft Office)
- Double click on LMSetup.exe to begin installation.
- The software will install automatically.
- Wait while Setup completes the installation process.
- Click Close when the installation is complete.
This completes the installation process.
You may now join the Live Meeting.
