You may get information skills instruction as a formal part of your course, but if you want to find out more about our library databases, how to search the Web, electronic databases such as ebrary, Scopus and Web of Knowledge, the Library Catalogue, MetaLib or RefWorks why don't you come along to one of our free workshops?
Our team of Information Consultants run short workshops for undergraduates and taught postgraduates - each comprising a presentation followed by a practical session. The workshops are held in the Queen Mother Library weekday lunchtimes during term-time. Full details of courses, dates and times are available on the Course booking web page.
Library information skills courses designed specifically for research postgraduates are available through either the Skills for Research Excellence Programme or through the Library Course booking web page.
Library information skills courses designed for academic staff are available through through the Library Course booking web page.
* Most workshops are repeated several times over the academic year. Places are limited and many will have waiting lists. Please look at the dates on offer for each workshop, decide which is best for you, and register only once for each one. You can cancel a booking online if you discover you are registered several times for the same workshop, or you if wish to change the date on which you attend.
Please note: The workshops are generally oversubscribed so we feel it necessary to put in place the following rule:
If you regularly book to attend sessions but do not turn up we will cancel any future bookings that you have made.
Please check your availability for the bookings that you have and check your University email account regularly for the reminders that are sent out.
