Extended opening hours trial for Wolfson Reading Room

THE WOLFSON READING ROOM, SPECIAL COLLECTIONS CENTRE

Extended opening on Thursday evenings - additional evening consultation time

Following our recent reader survey we will be running a trial change to our opening hours. 

For the duration of the teaching second half session, from 28 January to 18 March, the Wolfson Reading Room will be opening later on Thursday evenings, providing additional evening consultation time for Special Collections materials. 

WOLFSON READING ROOM OPENING HOURS FROM 28 JANUARY TO 18 MARCH 

MONDAY          9.30am to 4.30pm  

TUESDAY         9.30am to 4.30pm

WEDNESDAY   9.30am to 4.30pm        

THURSDAY       9.30am to 7.30pm (4.30pm to 7.30pm consultation only)

FRIDAY             9.30am to 4.30pm

How to request closed access materials for consultation on Thursday evenings;

 The Reading Room will be open on Thursday evenings for consultation only, so if you wish to request materials please do so in advance, and at the very latest, by 4.00pm the same day.   

All archive, manuscript and most special printed collections are closed access and so should be requested in advance. 

Please search the catalogues http://www.abdn.ac.uk/library/collections/ to identify the material(s) you would like to consult, then fill in a request card in person in the Reading Room, or email speclib@abdn.ac.uk, to request the individual item(s). 

Some materials may not be available due to their condition or size, or may already have been requested, so to avoid disappointment – especially if you are visiting from a distance – we would advise that you contact us in advance of your visit. Please also allow adequate retrieval time for multi-volume sets of materials and larger single items such as plans.

Access to browseable Reading Room Materials on Thursday evenings; 

Local Collection, S Collection and Reading Room periodicals are all on open access shelves in the Reading Room and so will be accessible and available for consultation on Thursday evenings.
