Library AudioPODs

University Open Day

Listen to our latest Audiopod (podcast) for the University of Aberdeen Science and Engineering Open Day on 29 February 2012.

Library AudioPODS are audio recordings (podcasts) about some of our services and resources which you can download to your computer, iPad, iPod/mp3 player or mobile phone. Accompanying each AudioPod is a transcript for you to download and print off.

Listen to recordings of features in our e-magazine HeadLines.

If you are unsure how to download the files, please follow the instructions below:

How to listen to an AudioPOD on your computer

mp3 files

  • Are simple audio files.
  • To open a mp3 Library AudioPOD - click on a mp3 link using the left mouse button.
  • How AudioPod plays will depend on the set up and settings of your computer. Usually your default media player will open and the audio track will start playing automatically.

m4a files

  • Are enhanced files containing photographs, floor plans and links to web pages which accompany the audio track.
  • They can be played on iTunes and QuickTime. Both media players are compatible with Windows.
  • QuickTime is installed on University classroom PCs.
  • PLEASE NOTE: When you try to play a Library m4a Audiopod you may get an error message which tells you that the file type is not recognised. Not all media players can play enhanced audio files.
  • To check if your media player can play an m4a file
Click on an m4a AudioPOD using your left mouse button. If your media player recognises the file type it should open and play automatically.
If you get an error message which tells you that the media player does not recognise the file type - you are advised to download a media player such as QuickTime or iTunes which are freely available.
Older versions of QuickTime should be updated to allow display of graphics.
More information on selecting and using media players is available on our Media Players web page.
