Assistive Technology Booths

For more details of facilities for disabled users and supportive software available at the University, please visit the Assistive Technology website.

Four Assistive Technology Booths (ATBs) are available in The Sir Duncan Rice Library to support students and staff who have a registered disability, specific learning difficulty or other health issue.

Where are they?

ATBs are on Floor 1 and Floor 4 of the building, with two booths on each floor.

What do they have?

Three of the booths are standard Atech Booths. These have:

  • adjustable desks
  • high-spec PCs
  • JAWS Screen Reader
  • Supernova Magnifier and Screen Reader
  • specialised software including ClaroRead Plus (Text to Speech and Literacy Support)
  • MindManager 2012 (visual mapping software)

One of the booths on Floor 1 is also equipped with an advanced book scanner and professional optical character recognition (OCR) software, which will enable quick, simple conversions and complex, professional, alternative formats such as Braille, Daisy and Large Print to be created.

Further information is available on the Assistive Technology Booths web pages.
