Extensive collection of annotated links to Internet resources. Created by the Institute of Mineralogy, University of Wurzburg.
BUBL UK
Major gateway for the UK academic community. A listing of sites which are at academic level.
United States Geological Survey
A comprehensive site. The online version of the USGS publications database provides access to the publications and includes references to USGS reports and maps from 1880 to present. Text of documents is, in general, not included, though there are full text of some bulletins, circulars and professional papers.
Intute: Science, Engineering & Technology
Intute is a free online service providing access to the very best web resources for education and research. All material is evaluated and selected by a network of subject specialists.
Geologic Hazards: Geomagnetism
Anyone researching or interested in geomagnetism will appreciate the US Geological Survey's Geologic Hazards: Geomagnetism Web site. Visitors will find research publications, various downloadable magnetic charts, models, data plots, an online calculator for magnetic fields, and more.

The Lyell Collection
The Lyell Collection gives full text access to titles published by the Geological Society of London and represents one of the largest integrated collections of online Earth science literature available. Key journals, Special Publications and Society book series are brought together on a single electronic platform. Includes Journal of the Geological Society, Petroleum Geoscience, Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, Scottish Journal of Geology. Also available are Memoirs and Special Publications which all have separate titles and are searchable in the Library Catalogue by title.
The Mineralogy Database
Created by petroleum geology consultant David Barthelmy, the Mineralogy Database Web site reportedly contains 4,281 individual minerals and descriptions. Visitors can browse the minerals by crystal system, by x-ray powder diffraction properties, by chemical composition, by the Dana system or the Strunz system, by physical and optical properties, alphabetically, and by mineral pictures. The large amount of information available for each specimen is impressive, especially for a personal Web site. Everyone from curious kids and adult hobbyists to academics and researchers will find something worth exploring on this extensive site.

Web Resources for Sedimentary Geologists
The Department of Geological Sciences of the University of Oregon offers the Web Resources for Sedimentary Geologists Web site. Those interested will find information on professional societies, publications of interest, software, upcoming meetings, research and education pages, other sites of interest, and direct links to sedimentary geologists with information on the Web. As a good example of the specificity of content that can be found online, this unique source of information, although seemingly limited, most likely contains a majority of information available on the subject. Besides giving sedimentary geologists a place to locate information in their field, others doing research or who are interested in similar subjects should also find the site useful.
